MicroFridge® Saves Electricity & Money

MicroFridge® combination appliances conserve electrical consumption and are designed specifically to reduce circuit overload in group-living situations; such as college residence halls, hotels, military barracks and senior living residences.

MicroFridge® combination appliances have a unique design that features Safe Plug™ technology. In a MicroFridge® combination appliance, the refrigerator/freezer plugs into the back of the microwave, so only one plug connects to the wall outlet. When the microwave is used, power to the refrigerator and freezer is temporarily suspended. When the microwave is finished, power to the freezer and refrigerator resumes. This design conserves electricity and frees up wall outlets.

Under normal operating conditions, once the refrigerator has reached the selected thermostat setting, the unit only draws 1.3 amps in what is called a "steady state". When the compressor is on, the unit draws 4.5 amps. When the microwave is operating the unit draws 8.6 amps.
