Chili for a Good Cause

Seattle event to raise funds to support efforts to end domestic violence in the community.

October 26, 2012

This month, Mac-Gray, the nation’s premier provider of laundry facilities management services to multi-unit housing locations, and the Washington Multi-Family Housing Association (WMFHA) are partnering to host the 6th Annual Charitable Chili Cook-off in Seattle, WA. The proceeds will benefit the Domestic Abuse Women’s Network (DAWN), a local charity which provides a continuum of community and shelter based services to survivors of domestic abuse. In 2011 alone, DAWN served over 16,000 members of the community. Proceeds from the event will help the charity provide shelter, education, prevention, and safety to women and children in the area who are victims of abuse.

Earlier this year, WMFHA presented DAWN with a check for almost $8,000 – the proceeds from the 2011 Chili Cook-Off. This money was critical in providing emergency care, shelter, counseling and other services to victims of domestic violence and their children.

“I am very proud to say I help foster the ongoing efforts of the Domestic Abuse Women’s Network by having created the annual WMFHA Chili Cook-Off event 6 years ago and to have DAWN as the recipient of the proceeds. The Cook-Off is a great family event each year that raises awareness and critical support for DAWN. I hope to see you there!” says Mac-Gray employee, Chairperson, and Event Creator, Bob Frediani.

The event will take place at the CORT Furniture Warehouse at 21431 68th Ave South in Kent, Washington on Saturday, October 27th from 11 AM to 3 PM. For $10 per adult (kids are free!), attendees gain access to TONS of chili, assorted refreshments, Trick or Treating, a fun filled Kid-Zone, and music by a local area DJ. It’s sure to be fun for the whole family!
