Mac-Gray Campus Solutions Introduces Student-Preferred 'Text Me'(TM) Cell Phone Notification Service at the Georgia Institute of Technology
WALTHAM, Mass., March 12 -Mac-Gray Corporation is pleased to introduce "Text Me"(TM) Laundry Notification, the newest feature of our LaundryView(TM) online monitoring system. The "Text Me" pilot program was released to Georgia Institute of Technology students in early January, generating an overwhelmingly positive response.
LaundryView is the industry leader in campus laundry monitoring via the Internet. The system connects laundry machines to the Internet and allows students to check the availability of washers and dryers. With "Text Me," students can now use their cell phones to request and receive a message when their laundry is done. This allows them to receive the benefits of the LaundryView web site while being away from their computer.
"Text Me" is the only Laundry Notification service that requires no pre- registration. It can be used whenever the student needs it and does not require a profile linking notification to payment card information. "Text Me" provides convenient notification without risk of a confidential data breach. Students use their cell phones to activate the text message notification method for the washers or dryers they want to know about. The request message is received by LaundryView and, upon completion of the laundry cycle, the system immediately sends a text message back to the student's cell phone with notification that their laundry is done.
Student research at Georgia Tech indicates that text message notification is preferred 3-1 over email or instant messaging. And, since students are now prompted to remove their laundry as soon as the cycle is complete, machines are available to other students sooner than was previously possible. Students also agree that the added convenience of "Text Me" notification allows them to manage their time more efficiently.
